Merlin Extralight— $4,995
Titanium for light weight and all seasons riding
A legendary frame designed by Tom Kellogg
The Merlin Extralight from the Tom Kellogg (of Spectrum fame) era is one of the most sought-after titanium frames. With Kellogg, Merlin revolutionized titanium frame production. Paired with a Reynolds carbon fork, this frame is light... extra light in fact. Imagine that! The raw ti finish makes for a low maintenance bike that can be ridden all year long. Most of the Merlin Extralights we’ve sold are still on the road today, many thousands of miles later. This is the last of the old stock. Get it before it’s gone!
Built-up with Campagnolo 10-speed components
The Campagnolo Record Titanium 10 speed group is highly desirable as well. Top of the line at the time, it’s still an excellent group by today’s standards. The square taper bottom bracket is smother that most external bearing set ups, there are less carbon bits to worry about, and performance is unrivaled as Campagnolo is known for. This generation Record group, including Record carbon seatpost is hard to beat, especially for the rigors of all weather riding.
Stiff, semi-aero Mavic wheels
The Mavic Cosmic Elite wheelset pairs perfectly with the Record group. At 30mm, the semi-aero profile offers some wind cheating without the handling miladies in the cross winds... aka real world conditions. Mavic rims are known for their durability, further bolstering this bikes suitability to riding year-round.
Made in the USA
The American-built frame is mated some fine components from Italy and beyond. A Kestrel carbon bar and ITM stem keep the lightweight theme going, The aforementioned Campagnolo Record Seatpost is topped with a classic fizik Pave saddle.
