Fausto Coppi Alloy K28 — $2,500
A ride worthy of Il Campionissimo himself
Alloy and steel meet
This bike is a classic. Named after Fausto Coppi, the Campionissimo, one of the sports greatest riders, the Coppi brand has been hand-building quality bikes in Italy since the 1950s. This alloy frame features a steel fork, which is something quite unique. A 3T quill stem continues the classic build.
Built-up with Campagnolo 10-speed components
The Campagnolo Daytona groupset was what is now known as Centaur (before Centaur replaced Veloce). Daytona’s performance exceeds its competitors in every way. With trickle down technology from higher end groupsets, Daytona is known for its versatility and mechanical precision. The only reason they changed the name to Centuar was to avoid legal trouble with Nascar. This group features a Campagnolo Daytona square taper bottom bracket, which while not as light as some outboard bottom brackets, is notoriously smoother.
A classic bike needs classic wheels
And what says classic more than the ubiquitous Mavic Open Pro Rim? Hand-built in-house by master wheel-smith, Michael Johnson, the Campagnolo Daytona hubs laced with DT spokes to Open Pros make for a light and dependable wheelset. A high enough spoke count and expert construction make for a solid and dependable wheel. You’re not going to see a pair of wheels like that on any other bike at this price-point.
